Our people moved to Iowa sometime between 1850 and 1855, first to Decatur County (on the southern border), and then up to Des Moines (Polk County). When they were fairly old, they moved to Madison County (just southwest of Des Moines).
Fremont County, where many of Margaret's siblings lived.
And then someone asked me about Emerson Arnold, born Indiana, lived in Iowa - in Des Moines County, Lee County, Washington County. Some of his sons lived in Idaho.
Decatur County
There isn’t much information in the library (Wisconsin State Historical Society Library) about Decatur County but the Decatur County GenWeb site is wonderful.
I have not found any mention of our Arnolds there however (except for census records). [There was another batch of Arnolds who were often mentioned, headed by Sylvanus and Lucretia, who came from New York via Ohio.]
Decatur County was settled first by the Mormons in 1846. Does this mean anything about our Arnolds? [Sylvanus Arnold helped found the first Methodist Church, so.] There were Dunkard Churches in the county, but I have not found any Arnolds mentioned in the church records online.
On the census for Decatur in 1860, Daniel identifies himself as a farmer. The Decatur website has an interesting article about early farming methods there, written by J. N. Machlan. It sounds like a LOT of work!

Silvanus Arnold and his family seem to have stayed in Decatur County for quite a while, and to have been prominent citizens - they are in the Biographies published in the “History of Decatur County.” Lucretia, Silavnus’s wife, donated land for a cemetery.
Moses Arnold is Moses Marion Arnold, son of John Arnold and Elizabeth Ashby, born 1795 in [Westmoreland County, VA], married 3 times, third time to Jemima Barnes. David (p.158 in 1860) is probably his son. He does not seem to have had a son named Daniel or a daughter Margaret. He was in Indiana in 1850:

According to the online genealogies, he died 18 Dec 1885.
William Arnold - is the father of our Margaret A Arnold who married Daniel J, so I have a separate page for him. But in brief: He was born in Maryland in 1799, married Elizabeth Sharps or Sharpless in Allegany County, Maryland in 1820. He migrated to Iowa between 1856-60. His older sons remained in Maryland (and his son William, after a brief stay in Missouri, returned there); his daughters mostly remained in Iowa - but in Fremont County. He died in 1865 in Decatur County, and is buried in Decatur Cemetery.

The GenWeb site is another very good one, but again, I didn’t find much about our Daniel and Margaret - except for their graves. They are buried in Winterset Cemetery.

Cemetery Records, Madison, Iowa
I found two sources on the web, at Internment.net
(the link is for Winterset Cemetery) and at the Madison GenWeb site.
Both files were prepared by Judy Branson; the second has more information, drawn from several different sources.
The record at Ancestry.com has a different death date for Daniel (sigh); their source is “Tombstone Records of Madison County.”
I have copied the records from the GenWeb site. (Birth dates in Italic were calculated from the death dates.)

| Ancestry.com says he died in 1892. Judy Branson's other file says he was 82y old when he died. On the censuses, his birthdate is closer to 1811, so maybe the death date of 1892 is correct. |
