Children of John Arnold and Elizabeth Ashby

My brothers and sisters' names were: Sarah, she lived in Missouri; then I came next; Rebecca, William, Winnifred, John, he lived in Wisconsin; Betty, she was a school teacher; and Hannah who died when only 3 or 4 months old.

 1. Sarah
There were two Sarah Arnolds in Allegany who got married within 5 years of each other - one to Elias King in 1818, the other to Frederick Lee in 1823. The one married to Lee was (according to the 1850 census) only born in 1806, so the one married to King is a better bet - and on the1820 census, Elias King was right next to John Arnold. After that it gets tricky.
I originally thought I had found her in Ohio, and maybe I have (since Moses didn't say WHEN she lived in Missouri). It does make a bit of sense, considering Moses lived there - AND the person who is possibly her sister also might have been living there. But I am piling up a whole bunch of maybes to make a yes.
So I am going to have to leave her as a mystery. I have posted here the censuses I looked at.

I couldn't find an Elias King in Allegany in 1830 (there was a Westly). In 1840, there was a Sarah King (who was actually a little too old) next to a younger John King:

1810 - parents in Allegany Co, MD
1820 - on his own somewhere

1846 - moved to Indiana (Miami Co)
1855 - moved to Decatur Co, Iowa
after 1860 - moved to Harrison Co, Iowa
1885 - died, Harrison Co

3. Rebecca
I haven't found out anything about Rebecca. I am assuming she is one of the young females on the census with John up until 1830, since I didn't find a marriage for her. After that, I don't even have an assumption.

1797 - born
1800 with parents in Monongalia Co, Va
1810 with parents in Allegany
1820 with parents in Allegany
1830 with parents in Allegany
1840 - ?

4. William - our next ancestor - has his own page, but in brief

1799 Sept 29 - born
1800 - with parents in Monongalia Co, Va
1810 - with parents in Allegany Co, Md
1820 July 31 - married Elizabeth Sharpless/Sharps
1820 census - probably living with parents-in-law
1830 census - in Allegany Co, Md, with lots of extra males - possibly brother John & nephews
1840 census - In Allegany Co, with an extra male - still brother John???
1850 census - in Allegany Co
~1856 - moved to Decatur Co, Iowa
1860 census - in Decatur Co, Iowa
1865 - died, Decatur Co, Iowa

5. Winnifred
Winnifred is another one for whom I have a lot of guesses, but no sure knowledge. Born in 1801, she was presumably with her parents for the 1810 and 1820 censuses. Then in 1826 a MINNIE Arnold married a William Anderson - and in 1830, there was a William Anderson in Ohio, same county, same town, one page away from (possible) sister-in-law Sarah King. There are a lot of William Andersons, many of them in the same county, but in 1850, there was a WINNEFORD Anderson in the same general area, so.
If Winnifred was William Anderson's wife, she was probably his second - there are a lot of children too old to be hers.
But this is ALL speculation, built on speculation.

6. John
According to his brother Moses, John lived in Wisconsin. I have not been able to find him there. From 1850 - 1870 there was a John Arnold in Rock County, but he was born in Pennsylvania. In 1860, there was another John Arnold, in La Crosse County, born in New York - and he was not there earlier or later. Judy Jennings thinks he might have been with brother William in 1830, but that poses even more questions. So - another mystery.

7. Betty

Moses says of Betty that she was a school-teacher. Don Norman wonders if she was the Elizabeth Arnold who married Joseph Friend. I have NO idea. Here is what I've got, hedged about with the usual warnings that it is mostly speculation.
