Needhams in Canada

Linda Nielsen did most of this research.
There is a terrific site devoted to Prince Edward Island, from which much of this comes:

Sarah Needham Bates emigrated to Canada in 1832.
There was a Valentine Needham in Prince Edward Island as early as 1819.
We assume they are siblings (I no longer remember why we make the assumption, but anyway).
Possible children of Valentine (they appear later in P.E.I. records) are:
        Edward
        William
        Elizabeth
        James

So -
In 1819, 1821, 1822 Valentine Needham was a constable in Bay Fortune, P.E.I.

In 1829, there was a Needham (the first name is illegible) listed as a lieutenant.

An almanac, printed in 1829. LaVerne Chappell - rlchap@cadvision.com has transcribed all lists in it containing names of members of government, the courts, clergy, militia, road commissioners, various societies, etc.

In 1864, Valentine Needham (it couldn’t be the same one, could it?) was postmaster in Bay Fortune.

There was also a William Needham listed as a farmer - and I thought it was in the same 1864 Directory, but it may have been in 1871.
