1670 - 1739
Virginia
John Belcher, the son of Robert and Phoebe Isham Belcher, was supposedly born in Virginia in 1670 , and married Elizabeth Frogley in 1710.
There might be a mistake here. Frogley researchers say the marriage
between John Belcher and Elizabeth Frogley took place on 7 Nov 1710 in
England (Denchworth, County Berkshire, in fact) - and yet Belcher
researchers have both John and his father being born in Virginia - AND they
say son Richard D Belcher was born in Chesterfield County in the same year
that John and Elizabeth supposedly got married in England. Furthermore, four
of the sons assigned to them by Belcher researchers were born before the
marriage. I suppose John could have been married before he married Elizabeth Frogley,
and he could have gone back to England, married her, and brought her back
to Virginia. But I haven't done the research and can only point out the
discrepancy.
