Early Wills of Orange County, NY, vol. 2, page 48: The will of John Brown, dated September 16, 1799 and probated August 4, 1801, lists his wife Charity, his sons William, Duncan and John, his daughters Christian Brown, Mary Brown, Margaret Hulse, Jane Tuthill, Ephey White, Meriem Robins, and his grandsons John (son of William Brown) and Tuthill and Nathan (sons of Duncan Brown). John Durham, Robert McCord, and Lette McCord are listed as witnesses and Andrew McCord and John Cox are named as executors of his estate.
This particular John Brown was buried in the Scotchtown Presbyterian Church Burying Ground (Scotchtown is a part of Walkill).
H-189: In memory of John Brown, who departed this life July, 18, 1801, age 84 years, born 1717.
H-190: In memory of Charity Brown, who departed this life October 30, 1814, age 80 years,
