Arranged by Name
Duncan McQuarrie Brown emigrated 1739, died 1771
sons Daniel (d bef 1769)/Donald (not mentioned in will), John, Gilbert, Archibald (b aft 1739), daughter Christian
Daniel Brown - son of Duncan McQuarrie/Brown - b. bef 1739 (= Donald on ship list?) - d. bef 1769
Daniel Brown - son of Daniel, grandson of Duncan McQuarrie Brown, b bef 1769
Unfortunately there are two Daniels, of about the same age

John Brown - son of Daniel, grandson of Duncan McQuarrie Brown, b bef 1769
see below
John Brown - b bef 1774 - son of Duncan McQuarrie/Brown (probably)
OR possibly the John Brown b 1717 who may or may not be Duncan's son
1790 2 1 6 0 0 1 son? b bef. 1774, 1 son b after 1774
1800 - with Duncan???
1800 343 Duncan 20011//22010 maybe Duncan is the 1755-74 one and John is the old fellow
Early Wills of Orange County, NY, vol. 2, page 48: The will of John Brown, dated September 16, 1799 and probated August 4, 1801, lists his wife Charity, his sons William, Duncan and John, his daughters Christian Brown, Mary Brown, Margaret Hulse, Jane Tuthill, Ephey White, Meriem Robins, and his grandsons John (son of William Brown) and Tuthill and Nathan (sons of Duncan Brown). John Durham, Robert McCord, and Lette McCord are listed as witnesses and Andrew McCord and John Cox are named as executors of his estate
This sounds like a good match with the son of Duncan McQuarrie who was married to Effie McIlepheder and had sons John, Duncan/Daniel, Gilbert, Archibald and daughter Christian, no?
BUT this John Brown was born 1717, which is possible, but quite a bit earlier than I was thinking Duncan’s John was born.
Old Burial Ground of the Scotchtown Presbyterian Church
H-189: In memory of John Brown, who departed this life July, 18, 1801, age 84 years, born 1717
H-190: In memory of Charity Brown, who departed this life October 30, 1814, age 80 years, 5 months, 24 days
G-173: Charity Brown [?]Incidentally, Effie Brown, daughter of John 1717, married John White 15 March 1792.
(Charles C. Coleman, Early Marriage Records of the First Presbyterian Church at Goshen)
They are both buried in the Old Burial Ground of the Scotchtown Presbyterian Church:
J-274: In memory of John White, died Sept. 11, 1839, age 80 years, 9 months, 21 days
J-275: Effie, wife of Major John White, died May 21, 1847, age 77 years, 5 [months or days]Duncan Brown - b bef 1774, bef 1755 - grandson of Duncan McQuarrie/Brown? (s/o John?) OR possibly the son of John Brown b 1717
1790 1 1 3 0 0
1800 343 Duncan 20011 22010 maybe Duncan is the 1755-74 one, and father John the older one
1810 476 Duncan 01110 12210 1765-84
If this is the grandson of Duncan McQuarrie/Brown, he was born before 1769.
He could be this Duncan, born ~1756.
Old Burial Ground of the Scotchtown Presbyterian Church
H-176: Mary, wife of Duncan Brown, died May 26, 1827, age 63 years, 8 months, 20 days
H-177: Duncan Brown, died January 9, 1816, age 60 years, 3 months, 12 daysNathan Brown, son of Duncan, grandson of John (b 1717) - b bef 1799

1830 139 Nathan 020002 001001 (b 1790-1800)
Old Burial Ground of the Scotchtown Presbyterian Church
H-174: Nathan Brown, died December 17, 1843, age 41 years, 4 months, 18 days
This would make him b. 1802, which is too late??? But he is buried next to Duncan and Mary
Tuthill Brown, son of Duncan, grandson of John (b 1717) - b bef 1799
Old Burial Ground of the Scotchtown Presbyterian Church
H-175: Tuthill Brown, January 7, 1817, age 26 years, 11 months, 28 days (=b ~1791)
I have no census entries for him - did he go by another name??William Brown - son of John (b 1717) - b bef 1799
Old Burial Ground of the Scotchtown Presbyterian Church
H-178: William Brown, [?] - next to (brother?) Duncan & Mary
OR - next to John (1717) and Mary

H-188: In memory of William Brown, who departed this life October 20, 1802, age 39 years,
4 months, 9 daysJohn Brown, son of William, grandson of John (b 1717) - b bef 1799
This is a pure guess - I put him as the grandson because he 1st appears in 1810
1810 486 John 10010 10010 (1765-84)
1820 340 John 010010 10010 01 (1775-94)John Brown - son of John (b 1717) - b bef 1799
This is a pure guess - I put him as the son because he appears earliest in the censuses

1810 472 John S 20010 31010 (1765-84)
1820 336 John S 100000 10100 same page as Peter Brown, McLaughlins
John S is at the bottom of the page, and it is possible some numbers were missed
There is a John S in 1830, as well as a John jr - both born 1790-1800. These I think must be different (younger) ones, since they are so far from the age ranges of the earlier ones.
In 1840 there are two Johns, both in the 1790-1800 range.
In 1850, there is only one John b 1797.
Peter McGlaughlan - b bef 1774, bef 1755 - son-in-law of Duncan McQuarrie/Brown (probably)
married Christian Brown
1790 p. 218/61 Peter McGlaughlan 1 1 3 0 0
1800 343 Peter McLoughlin 00001 01101 02
Gilbert Brown -
The Gilbert Brown in the censuses is probably not the son of Duncan McQuarrie/Brown. That Gilbert was born before 1739.
1790 1 1 3 0 0 This could be Duncan’s son, but is probably the same as the 1800 one
1800 343 Gilbert 10110 11100 b 1755-74 = not the son of Duncan

Oddly enough, there is a Neil Brown in Robeson County, North Carolina in 1793 - requesting a survey be done for Archibald Brown. The survey was done by A. Gilchrist, and on the cover page there was this entry: Duncan Brown CC Daniel Brown. All of this is kind of spooky, considering there was a Catherine McIlepheder (possible in-law to our Duncan McQuarrie/Brown) who married an Alexander Gilchrist - and who possibly changed her name to McNeil.
However, there is also a will by Duncan Brown in Robeson County in 1797 (recorded 1820) - in which he mentions only his sisters, Catherine and Nelly Brown and Margaret Taggert.
