1 John Thomas Claye - ~1587 - ~1655
        possibly b. ~1587 Monmouth
        arrived in Virginia February 1613/4 on the Treasurer
        owned 2200 acres in present-day Prince George County
        married Anne Nichols who arrived on the Ann in August 1623.

        died before 1655 (widow Elizabeth married John Wall, and then John Tate; died by 1686)

2. Charles Clay b. 1635/1638 - 1686
        apprenticed to a physician
        joined in Bacon's foray against the Indians (which turned into a rebellion against the governor), but was only convicted of commandeering some cattle.
        married Hannah Wilson (1645-1706), daughter of John Wilson
        Children: Elizabeth 1663 -
                            mentioned in settlement of father's estate (1686); not included in mother's deed of gift (1687)
                       Mary 1664 -
                             mentioned in settlement of father's estate (1686); not included in mother's deed of gift (1687)
                       John 1668 - 1723 [will recorded 1712]
                             lived Charles City (Prince George County)
                             married Mary Unknown - 4, possibly 5, possibly 7 children

                                  (Blankenstein site lists: Ann, John, Hannah, Charles, Mary Obedience, Judith, Thomas
                                     and says he died 1723 in Chowan Co, NC - mistake??)

                             lived Prince George County
                             married Mary Hannah Munns - 6 children
                                 Charles, James, John, Dorothy, Phoebe, Hannah married Matthew Cabanis
                         Henry 1672 - 1760 (m. Mary Mitchell, daughter of John and Elizabeth, 1692/93 - 1777)
                             Indian trader; brought some Indians into slavery
                             much land in Henrico (now Powhatan) County
                             married Mary Mitchell - 7, possibly 8, possibly 9 children
                                   William Mitchell father of Mitchell Clay, Henry, Charles, John, Amey, Martha, Mary,
                                    possibly Mary Obedience, possibly another daughter
                            died at "The Raells", Chesterfield County (about 10 miles from Richmond) 3 Aug 1760 at dinner
                             Mary Mitchell Clay died of dysentery 7 Aug 1777

                              lived Chesterfield County
                         Judith 1676 -
                              mentioned in mother's deed of gift (1687); no further information
      died ~1686 (widow Hannah married Edward Stanley; they had a daughter Hannah; died probably ~1706)
