George Johan Derr

1687/88 - 1761?

Sources: the list of children comes from Kay Schroy.  The church records come from Ancestry.com's Birth, Marriage and Death records.  The ship names come from Rupp 30,000 Names.

PLEASE NOTE - I have no proof that these records refer to this particular batch of Darr/Derrs.

At one time I thought George Johan was the 2nd son of Weigant and Anna Margaretha.  It seems I was wrong about that, so I now have no idea who his parents were, nor do I know why I should think he was born 16 Jan 1687/8 in Germany. The rest of this is already guesswork, so I'm not sure what use it might be.

I think he emigrated sometime before 1734, because I think he is the John George Derr who is mentioned in the records below, but I have no proof of that.  He was married twice, and possibly his sons by his first wife stayed on in Germany for a while after he left.  His will - if he is the one here - was written in 1754 and probated in 1761.

I have not found George Johan on the ship lists, but if the second batch of children are his, he must have emigrated before 1734.

children of 1st unknown wife
Conrad (George Conrad) 1710
???Aug 21, 1750. Ship Anderson, Hugh Campbell, Captain, from Rotterdam, last from Cowes.
                        Conrad Derr
???Oct 27, 1764. Ship Hero, Ralph Forster, Captain, from Rotterdam, last from Cowes. - 500 passengers
                        Conrath Dorr (umlaut)
Johannes Durr (umlaut) - possibly the son of Hans Sigmund - cousin of Conrad
Lorentz Durr (umlaut) - possibly the son of Hans Sigmund - cousin of Conrad
                        Johannes Deehr
These next documents might refer to the next generation - and maybe to a different family. Could be Conrad, s/o Abraham b~1700 (this Conrad b 1728). It is vaguely possible that Abraham ~1700 was the son of George Johan.

Abraham - no dates given
I am wondering if this is the Abraham b ~1700, who was the father of (among others) Conrad, Abraham and Charles. I think these documents refer to his (Ab1700's) son who married Magdalena Bullinger 1758.
