1677 - 1718
(mostly) Rhode Island
Sources: (1) a family group sheet, provided by Phyllis Hughes, official Hull Family Genealogist, and (2)The Hull Family in America (compiled by Col. Weygant, published by the Hull Family Association).
Neither of these have very much information on Tristram, just the birth, death and marriage dates and the names of his children.
(3) Also some random comments from Frank Dyer's HUGE Database on the Dyers
available at Rootsweb WorldConnect and also at his website, Dyer Families of New England.
There are a lot of land records I have yet to transcribe, but they are just land records.
Tristram, named after his grandfather, was the eldest child of Joseph and Experience Harper Hull. He was born 8 October 1677, either in Barnstable, MA or more likely in South Kingston, Rhode Island. (His parents left Barnstable shortly after their marriage in October 1666.)
Apparently the most interesting thing about Tristram is his in-laws. He married Elizabeth Dyer 9 February 1698/99 in Friends Meeting House, Newport, Newport, Rhode Island; she was the daughter of Charles and Mary (Lippet - according to Frank Dyer) Dyer - and the granddaughter of Mary Dyer, the Quaker woman who was hanged on Boston Common in 1660. The Hull Family in America in its section on Tristram gives a brief history of the Dyers instead of a brief history of Tristram. So there it is. [On the other hand, Tristram did die fairly young.]
He died in 1718 and apparently he did leave a will, in which he mentioned 9 children:
1. Elizabeth or Mary, born before1702. She married Job Babcock 10 October 1717 in South Kingston, Washington, RI. Elizabeth is the name on the Family Group Sheet provide by Phyllis Hughes; Mary is the name in HFAm.
2. Samuel S, born ~1702; died 1717. HFAm says he died 1717, but if he is mentioned in his father's will (which I have not seen) AND his mother's will (abstract below), this must be an error - unless there were two Samuels? HFAm also says he married and had two children, so someone was not paying a lot of attention here.
3. Joseph, born 1 October 1706; died 1771. He married (1) Elizabeth Richmond 1731, (2) Martha Potter ~1740. Death date comes from HFAm; according to Frank Dyer, the Richmond genealogists believe he lived until 1785.
4. Hannah, born ~1708. She married Abram Tucker, jr 4 April 1728 (she was his 2nd wife).
5. Bathsheba, our next ancestor, born ~1710. She married Ebenezer Slocum 4 February 1727/28 in the Friends Meeting House, Newport, Newport, Rhode Island.
6. Charles, born 1712. He married Abigail Slack 30 December 1730.
7. Elizabeth, born after 1712.
8. Sarah, born after 1712.
9. Stephen, born 1715. He married Martha Morey 27 April 1738. He served in the Revolutionary War - although I would have thought he was a bit old.
And that's it.
Elizabeth died a year later. Her will, dated 3 July 1719, was proved that same month.
