1813 Dec 6 - Ordered that John T Lusk be and is hereby appointed constable from the county of Madison, Goshen Township. Whereupon the said John appeared in court, entered into recognizance and took the oath of office as the law directs.
1815 March 7 - John T Lusk produced in court an account for 6 days attendance as Constable in the Court of Common Pleas to the amount of $3 which was approved and allowed by the court.
1815 March 8 - John T applied to keep a tavern at his own house in Edwardsville. The court said he appeared to be a man of good character and would probably keep an orderly house, so a license was approved, after he paid a bond. Taxed $5
             Rates set by the county - Meal of victuals .25
                                                   corn and oats, per gallon .12 ½
                                                   hay or dofer, per night .12 ½
                                                   rum, French brandy, wine, per half pint .50
                                                   gin, peach brandy, whiskey, per pint .25
                which said rates shall be and remain a Rule to all tavern keepers in this county for 1 year from this date
1815 June 16 - approval of a mill dam sought - John T was one of the grand jury? who approved it.
1815 same day - Nancy Sams, daughter of Joseph Sams deceased, appeared in court and being of age as required by law made choice of John T Lusk as her guardian . . . no bond required.
             [Nancy was the 1st cousin of John T - her mother Sallie was sister to John’s father James Vance Lusk - grandparents Robert Lusk & Mary Vance]

       v 10 p. 3 - Lusk Cemetery - this apparently does not exist anymore. Apparently John T set aside land outside the town for a cemetery, reserving a part for the family, and another part for itinerant ministers. So there were no graves to be read, only people said so-and-so was buried here.

St Clair formed 27 Apr 1790 from the Northwest Territory; Randolph 1795, Madison 1812, Monroe 1816, and Washington 1818 formed from it.
          In 1801, William Henry Harrison then Governor of Illinois, made St Clair and Randolph part of Indiana Territory; in 1803 he readjusted the boundaries. In 1805, Nathaniel Pope, acting territorial governor, put both counties in Indiana Territory.

Sometime in the late 1860s (my) Jonathan Lusk moved from Warrick County, Indiana to Wayne County, Illinois. He died there before 1871, possibly before 1869, when his wife remarried.
