John Owen

John has only a "probable" connection to the Owens in Hook's article - and Hook does not have very full notes on him - only one "probable" child.
~1670 Bristol - 1737 Southold, Suffolk, Long Island, NY

John Owen
      Born: ~1670
      In: Bristol, England?
if he was the son of George, and if he was born ~1670, then he probably was NOT born in Bristol, but in Cork - the sons born before and after him were - only the eldest, Even, was born in Bristol. [Of course, I have no documentation for any of them - I am taking other researchers' words for all of this.] [Oops - other researchers give him a date of ~1666, in which case he could have been born in Bristol.]

               she was b ~1675 - died 18 May 1740

Hook says "his wife may have been the Mary Owen who died at Southold 18 May 1740, and he may have been father of some of those of the Owen Name who later appear in the early Southold records."

Notes from Hook's article (p 134 in the July issue):
. . . probably the John Owen of Southold, LI, who died there 7 Jan 1737. John was named in the Owen family account (see George) as brother of Edwin (Even), Moses and Jonathan. His name does not appear in the Brookhaven records, but he does appear among the enlisted men in Capt George Bradshaw's Suffolk County Company, 17 June 1692 [Report of the State Historian, Colonial Series, 1:418]. The same source [1:401, 2:469, 479] between 1690 and 1703 records military activities of a John Owen without stating his residence
