Norton
        The next family now to be noticed is the Roberts family. The first of them known to the writer was Redden Roberts and Norton Roberts. They settled on Buck Swamp near Buck Swamp Bridge. I do not know who the wife of either was, but both married and raised families. Redden Roberts had sons, William D., James, Rowland and Giles.
        Norton Roberts resided on the first settled place south of Buck Swamp Bridge; don't know who he married -think, however, his wife was a Miss Johnson; he, with all his family, except his oldest son, Colonel John M. Roberts, went to Louisiana a way back, perhaps in the forties, and it is said, don't know how much truth, that one of his sons became Governor of Louisiana.

      1812 Captain Elisha Bethea's Company of S.C. Militia
        From June 29 to September 29, 1812 was in service of the United States near Georgetown, S.C. This company was organized in Marion District, which then included present Marion and Dillon counties, and a part of Florence county. The names are from the original payrolls, copies of which are in the Marion County Library

      There was, according to Gregg (Gregg, John M. Early Pee Dee settlers [Bowie, Md. : Heritage Books, 1993]), a Robert Roberts in the Pee Dee in 1743. He had a wife Jane and a daughter Helenor, and was located in Prince Frederick Parish. — Could he be the husband of Jane Roberts who petitioned for land in 1753? (See the section for William Roberts)

BIOGRAPHICAL DATA ON NEW BRUNSWICK FAMILIES Especially of Loyalist Descent by D.R. Jack
          Zachariah Roberts came to St John in 1783: settled on the St John River, back of Long Island, where he died in 1833 aged seventy-seven. His children were: Ezekiel; Elizabeth, who married Michael Berry; Sarah, Nathaniel Adams; Mary, Edward Jones; Hannah, Josiah Adams; Sibble, John Maze (Mays?) D.R.J.); David, Ann Vincent; Scovil, Sarah Golding; Thomas, never married. Only Hannah and Sibble are now living. Scovil Roberts is the only descendant of Zachariah now in Queen’s County. Mr John Robinson has in his possession the original grant of all the land on both sides of the Maquapit Lake. “History of Queens County” by Wiggins, Watchman 1876

Zaccheus, Nancy, SC Line, R8873, sol m Nancy ( - - ) 11 Dec 1788 near the mouth of George’s Creek on the Saluda River in SC, so d 29 Dec 1826, wid appl 22 Sep 1848 in Roane Co TN aged 75, in 1853 sons Brashears & Robert Z. Roberts were of Roane Co TN, in 1855 a James Roberts was of Wayne Co TN & was referred to as a son but it was stated he was possibly the son of Ezra & Patsey Roberts (see their claim R8874), in 1848 a Robert S. Roberts was a JP for Roane Co TN & in 1848 a Rebekah Roberts the wid of Elias Roberts was of Roane Co TN & stated she had been at sol’s wedding, the name Thomas Roberts appears in the claim, relationship to these 4 people to sol’s family not given
