We have two Elizabeth Sams in our ancestry so you would think I would know a lot about
the Sams family. Sorry.
Almost everything I know I got from other people.
There is, first of all, a book: The Sams Family of Virginia by Crawford Sams, Conway
C. Sams, Colonel Robert C. Hackett, 1981 (LC 82-70642).
It is considered holy writ by
many Samses and I do follow it for the early members of the family.
However I - and other
descendants of the Samses who went to Kentucky - have problems with the text once it
reaches these people, so after that (early 1800s) we're pretty much on our own.
Vicki Sams Corrick is a Kentucy Sams descendant - she gave me a lot of help with our
immediate family.
And there are others whose work I encountered at second or third or fourth hand.
I've only done a little work on the Samses, so this is pretty half-baked (to put it kindly).
