George first shows up in Chalkley in 1748 as a surety for Andrew Baxter’s will. It is clear that Andrew Stephenson is the grandson of Andrew Baxter, but it is not clear what relationship George has to either of them.
He appears often with Andrew and John Stephenson, and once with William Lusk.
His wife appears to be Rebecca.
As usual, I am not sure where he was located. My guess is in the Borden Patent, probably the Timber Ridge area (where I think John Stevenson I was also located). He also seems to have property further south (Poage’s Draft of the James River). There is a Poage’s Run in Beverly Manor, but I think Poage’s Draft must be different because George’s land there mentions Borden’s Patent line, and the James River is at the southern end of Borden’s Patent.
He possibly moved to Louisa before 1762 - there is a record of George (of Louisa) and Rebecca selling land in Borden’s tract.
~~~~~~~
There is a gap of 33 years between mentions of George, from 1763 to 1796, and the George in 1796 has a wife Nelly Clendennin. I think this must be a younger George. ?
